Cubs Watch #3

A little update on the Chicago Cubs: With the loss Monday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cubs dropped into a tie with the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central. There are 39 games left in the regular season.

The Cardinals are three games back. So far, it looks to be adown to the wire finish in the division, with little room for error. If the Cubs are going to it, they’re going to have to rely on offence. I think their pitching is a little weak to carry the club to victory.

The only way the Cubs are going to make the play-offs is to win the division. If they drop out of the league lead, there are too many teams ahead of them in the wild card race for them to get in that way.

Looks like a wild finish for the team. Of course, a few weeks ago they were totally out of it. So, in a way, the Cubs have brought an added excitement to what has been a dull summer in Chicago.

Win or Lose it has been a fun season for many longtime Cub fans like myself. If they lose, at least they made a serious run for the title. But If they win even better, Oh Yeah! 😀 I know I will be eating crow over some of my early whines, especially the DeRosa and Lily singing, but it is the kind of eating crow I do not mind! They have both far exceeded my preseason expectations! Go Cubs Go!
