Cubs Watch #4

The Cubs won last night, beating the Brewers 5-3. Extending their lead on the Brewers to 2.5 games. It seems like the Milwaukee team is fading from the race in the late summer.

However, the St. Louis Cardinals are now in second place. The Cards are on a hot streak lately and looks like the team the Cubbies will have to contend with in September. Nothing like having two old venerable teams battling it out for the Division crown, even as they both struggle to stay above .500 in a weak division.

The Cubs play the Cards at St, Louis on September 14, 15 & 16. What the Cubs will have to do is not look ahead and play those other teams well for that series to have any meaning. Here’s hoping that they can do just that on their long home stand over the next week and a half.

It’s been a blast either way this past year. I’m enjoying the show.

    Hi there –

I was just wondering why you tagged this ‘writing’ – it isn’t about writing.

they play the cardinals on sept 10th too and actually twice on the 15th. it doesnt matter a whole lot if they play .500 ball or not those 5 games are the most important.

plus its the cubs and its only 2 days until september – you know what that means for the cubbies
