Cub Watch #5

While Arizona and New York have seen their leads shrink in each of the National League Divisions, the Cubs have managed to widen their lead slightly. They are now 1 1/2 games in front of the Brewers in the NL Central.

They won the last two ball games in dramatic fashion, with some good pitching and some dramatic hitting, winning 7-6 and 3-2, at home.

They play Pittsburgh at home this weekend while the Brewers play the Braves in Atlanta. It’s a real chance for the Cubbies to open up some distance as the season winds down.

It’s been a great year for Cub fans this summer. I didn’t think that the team would be in it this far into the season. So far, at least, the dreaded September Swoon has not occurred. I’m keeping my fingers crossed along with the rest of the Cub faithful. It will be nice to pay in October in Chicago.
